Festival
and events in Pietrasanta
Versilia
is a land of lively cultural tradition, rich in art, passions
and healthy cheerfulness. The territory is known for important
events and events, such as the famous Carnival and
literary prizes. In this painting, Pietrasanta could not miss
Pietrasanta,
a place traditionally known for the artistic workmanship of
marble and bronze, frequented by famous people able to offer
many events especially in the summer. |
|
Among
the many events there are exhibitions of modern art and then the
Versiliana festival, the Carnival Pietrasantino, the International
Festival of Dance and Visual Arts, the Pietrasanta Film Festival, the
Festival Pietrasanta in Concerto, the Festival Pietrasanta.
The
Carnival of Pietrasanta, every year is appreciated by more than
15 thousand people. Not only the Carnival of Viareggio therefore,
even if it is obviously the best known. During three days, the districts
of Pietrasanta contend for the colours and cheerfulness that have
distinguished this carnival for over a century. Already back in 1910,
the Academy of Fine Arts created a picturesque carnival parade. At the
nearby
Viareggio and its most famous Carnival,
Pietrasanta could not stand by and watch, so it was that from 1924 the
local carnival procession began to look beyond, to expand. In the 70's,
the event became more important thanks to the creation of the Carnival
Committee and the districts (subdivided today into Lanterna, Beca,
Africa, Garden City, Vecchiuccio, Collina, La Contratoia, Pontestrada,
Crociale, Porta a Lucca, Bar Renzo). The success of the fashion shows is
today also ensured by the presence of gastronomic stands with typical
local dishes, usually set up in Piazza del Duomo. From February to
summer, for a Sunday replica with the summer Carnival of Pietrasanta,
with music, festivals and fireworks for four Sundays in a row, the
carnival awaits you.
Pietrasanta
and music, an essential link in the hearts of the people who live
and frequent this territory. The Festival Pietrasanta in Concerto,
organized by the Municipality of Pietrasanta in collaboration with the
Foundation "La Versiliana", is one of the most interesting
moments of the cultural season in Versilia. Then there is classical
music from the second week of February, with the carnival concert,
to then arrive in March with music in celebration of the Women's Day and
especially the summer music season. The artists are all internationally
renowned and perform in the cloister of Sant' Agostino, in the Cathedral
of San Martino and in the Salone dell' Annunziata.
Numerose le
mostre d'arte a Pietrasanta lungo tutto l'arco dell'anno.
di Nall (all'anagrafe Fred Nall Hollis), dove è
There
are numerous art exhibitions in Pietrasanta throughout the year.
The art is so deeply felt here that in 2017 the city worked for the
recognition of the International Park of Contemporary Sculpture.
This is an open-air museum that winds through an urban path that sees
art exhibitions set up almost everywhere: this is the case of Piazza
Matteotti with "The Warrior" by Fernando Botero, "Memoria
di Pietrasanta" (the famous marble bollards) by Pietro Cascella,
one of the major Italian sculptors of the second half of the twentieth
century, or "Il Circhio del vento" in marble by Wangechi Mut. It
goes further, with "The Centaur" by Igor Mitoraj, the "Serenade"
by Rinaldo Bigi (in Largo Padre Thomas Glynn) and "Key of
Dream" by Kan Yasuda in Piazza della Stazione. There are many
artists linked to the place, and a few more words it is right to spend
it for the link between Fernando Botero and Pietrasanta: since 2001
Botero is an honorary citizen of Pietrasanta; he settled there in the
80's, buying home and opening an art workshop not far from Piazza del
Duomo. His works still emerge today, scattered here and there in the
streets and squares of the city.
The
works of the Sculpture Park are also at the centre of the Dap
Festival, the International Festival of Dance and Visual Arts, where
dance and sculpture relate in an original symbiosis between visual arts
and choreography. The festival realizes an integrated project of dance,
art, music, sculpture, photography. As the festival's artistic director
writes, "The proposal of the DAP Festival is to offer the foundations
for the education of young artists in a place deeply linked to
contemporary visual arts such as Sculpture and Scenography. For this
reason, this event took place in the city of Pietrasanta". The
festival is held at the beginning of summer, between June and July, and
in addition to performances includes classical and contemporary dance
lessons, held by many international teachers and choreographers. The
project uses names such as Sebastian Kloborg (coreographer),
Kim Helweg (composer), Jørgen Haugen Sørensen (sculptor).
Another tip, this
time linked to the gastronomic tradition of Pietrasanta
and to be precise in Tonfano - Marina di Pietrasanta, is
to visit the Tonfano Street Food, a small destination for
lovers of quality street food. Piazza XXIV Maggio, the beating
heart of the event, is getting ready to let you taste the best
of local cuisine.
