Where to park in the Principality of Monaco
|
The
territory of the Principality of Monaco extends for
only 2 km² and is populated by about 40 thousand
inhabitants. Parking your car within this
small area is generally simple, although some may
think it is uneconomical. The resort has several car
parks, of which we give below some information.

Monte Carlo (also known as Montecarlo) is often
confused with the capital city of the principality, but it goes
without saying that it is in fact one of its districts, the city
is in fact Monaco, which remains the only administrative entity
of the territory.
Monaco is in turn composed of small districts
(often little more than streets): including Monte-Carlo,
and then La Rousse / Saint-Roman, Larvotto, La
Condamine, Vieux Monaco, Fontvielle, La
Colle, Les Révoires, Moneghetti, Saint
Michel, Le Portier.
Arriving in Montecarlo/Monaco by car from any city on
the Côte d'Azur, we recommend that you choose the parking
lot near the Casino di Monte Carlo (inexpensive in relation to
the location and also with multi-storey structure). Parking is
close to the casino and also to the Hotel de Paris and
the Café de Paris, plus other nearby attractions. Parking
des Pecheur is also recommended, towards Port Hercule and the
Fortress of Monaco (parking is partly in the rock and nearby is
the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco), from here you can
easily access the historic center, where at one end you might
notice the square in front of the Prince's Palace. The
old town is in the area of the fortress, with its narrow
streets, which is limited traffic reserved exclusively for
residents.
Il parcheggio in strada per i visitatori non è quindi
possibile nel centro città. Le uniche auto ammesse sono quelle
dei residenti. Non vedrete quindi parcheggi su strada ne
tantomeno parchimetri. I parcheggi sono solo quelli in
struttura. Il parcheggio nella prima ora è gratuito, la seconda
è caro ma la tariffa viene gradualmente ridotta man mano che
passano le ore richieste.
Street parking for visitors is therefore not possible in the
city centre. The only cars allowed are those of the residents.
You won't see any street parking or parking meters. The car
parks are only those in the structure. Parking in the first hour
is free, the second is expensive but the rate is gradually
reduced as the required hours pass.
