Where
to park in Barga
|
Barga
is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and as such
nationally recognized and appreciated by tourists from around
the world. It is located in the territory of the Media Valle
del Serchio, an area in the province of
Lucca,
Garfagnana
and next to the mountain
Pistoia, in Tuscany. It is the most populous
centre of the territory, and it is also composed of different
hamlets.

The historic centre, which is divided into "contrade"
(districts) (Catagnana Bridge, Arsenale, Catagnana,
Filecchio, San Quirico), which are accompanied by the
hamlets of Fornaci di Barga (the main one), Albiano,
Castelvecchio Pascoli, Filecchio, Loppia, and then again,
Mologno, Ponte all'Ania, Renaio, San Pietro in Campo,
Sommocolonia, Tiglio).
The area of the historic centre of Barga is a
traffic restricted area (ZTL). The service is used to
monitor and control traffic and in particular the main accesses
to the municipal territory. Access, movement and parking are
limited to particular categories of vehicles and according to
the marked areas.
Arriving at Barga da Lucca, take the SS12 and
you will arrive in about 45 minutes (38 km), passing by places
such as Ponte a Moriano, Borgo a Mozzano,
alongside a few kilometers
Bagni di Lucca
(which remains on the right with respect to the places Piano
della Rocca and Fornoli, and then with the SP 20
(Via Lodovica) and then the SR 445 for Ponte all'Ania,
Fornaci di Barga, Loppia (Sotto and di Sopra), and finally the
SP7 before arriving at Barga Vecchia. Before entering the walls,
from Porta Reale, take Via Bellavista, until you
recognize a parking of medium size, just behind the walls (we
are at the intersection with Via del Sasso and Via
Guglielmo Marconi), on the left is the entrance to the
historic center.
The campervan parking area is located not far from this
parking lot. It can be reached from the SP 7, always continuing
from via Bellavista, continuing from via Marconi and then
following via Hayange.
The lower part of Barga, the most recent, is composed
of an urban structure more accessible to road traffic. You get
there by continuing from the SP 7 (namely Viale Guglielmo
Marconi) and passing the bridge that gives Viale Giovanni
Pascoli, and next to the corner (one of the most
photographed) with the English red phone booth, and continue
with the crossroads of Via Roma on the left, taking this
road and just beyond in Via Piero Gobetti (corner with
the gas station) to get to another parking in the town, for a
fee, the parking lot of Piazzale Matteotti and a few
meters beyond, another larger parking lot.
Another parking lot is also near the Tennis Club Barga,
between the streets Barrifollino and Via del Giardino, just to
the left of the bridge on Viale Giovanni Pascoli.
