Where to park in Pisa

Parking in Pisa may not be easy, as in all major historic Italian cities and it is good to organize before you arrive. If you are visiting the city you may have arrived by train, or directly by plane from the nearby airport, or even by bus from the nearby cities of Florence and Lucca or Viareggio.

If you intend to arrive in Pisa by car, you should use some tips, first of all understand where to park (and maybe stay as close as possible to Piazza dei Miracoli/Piazza Duomo, where the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa is located).

There are 5 car parks just a few minutes walk from the Tower of Pisa, 2 of which are free.

Pisa is a large city, with a well known historic center and the river that flows along the oldest districts and along the so-called Lungarni. Traffic at peak times is quite heavy and there are limited traffic areas. If you want to use the bus (from the central station of Pisa you can reach the Tower in 5 minutes by bus, while from the station of San Rossore you can get on foot in about 7 minutes). However, there are several parking lots just a few steps from the Tower and Piazza Duomo, so everything is easy (if you find a free place for your car or caravan).

The ZTL areas of Pisa (Limited Traffic Areas) are restricted and in use to residents with the issue of transit permits (free of charge) and parking (onerous), according to strict conditions of release (for example, up to three permissions for housing, or if the vehicle is in use to the company for which you work, or if made out to a relative of 1° degree when residing in neighboring municipalities, including Lucca, Viareggio or Livorno). In case you are visiting the hotel or similar, you must register the license plates of the vehicles to access the ZTL and these requests are subject to approval (ask directly to the hotel for this), if you do not have a private space. Piazza Duomo and Torre, are located in the area B-Santa Maria. In the Lungarni also transit is prohibited in the months of June and July from 22:00 to 03:00 the next day (every day) and May, August and September from 22:00 to 03:00 the next day on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays.

Free parking in Pisa

Please note, exchanger means that parking is free and is included in the ticket of the shuttle transport to and from the same parking lot.

Parking exchanger in via Pietrasantina (free)

(Stadium area - north of Piazza Duomo)

700 parking spaces and 90 for tourist buses.

This free car park is only a 15-minute walk from Piazza dei Miracoli. It also offers a paid shuttle service (bus ticket) to the center and Piazza dei Miracoli active 7/7 from 8.30 to 17.30 (March 15 to October 14), and from 9 to 17 the remaining months. Shuttle service every 10/15 minutes. Additional bus line (LAM red line) to Piazza dei Miracoli. For tourist coaches and camper vans (including services), parking is subject to a charge.

Parking exchanger of the market of Via del Brennero (free)

(area Via Paparelli - north entrance to the city)

750 parking spaces, no bus stop, camper/caravan service and related services.

About one kilometer from Piazza del Duomo. It offers shuttle bus service to the center (Line E). Please note that on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 7.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., parking is off limit because of the market.

Parking exchanger of Via di Pratale (free)

(not far from the one mentioned above in Via del Brennero - north entrance to the city).

For cars and camper/caravans, with relative services.

A few hundred meters from the car park, is also located in the north.

It has a self-cleaning drain cockpit, equipped with a fountain, for chemical toilets of campers and caravans. You can use the bus service of line 7.

Parking exchangers Goletta - Aurelia (airport)

Large parking exchanger and an ecological shuttle Pisa Mover. Via di Goletta and the roundabout at the Via Aurelia, are located at the intermediate station of the shuttle "San Giusto / Aurelia" The fare includes both parking and shuttle transport round trip.

The paying car parks in Pisa are divided into zones. Those on public roads have parking meters, or on the streets marked with blue stripes, is indicated the relevant fee to be paid, hours, and prohibitions.

Situato a pochi metri da piazza Duomo, all'angolo tra via Cammeo Carlo Salomone e via Vecchia di Barbaricina. Il parcheggio chiude alle 21,30 in forma presidiata ed è attivo fino alle ore 02.30 per ritiro veicolo. Nel parcheggio non è consentito l’ingresso ai camper/roulotte.

Access from 06.30 to 23.30 every day

350 seats, at €2 / 50% discount from 22.00 to 06.30.

Located a few meters from Piazza Duomo, on the corner of Via Cammeo Carlo Salomone and Via Vecchia di Barbaricina. The car park closes at 21.30 in manned form and is active until 02.30 for withdrawal vehicle. In the parking lot is not allowed entry to campers / caravans.

A pochi metri dalla Torre di Pisa

Accesso dalle 08.00 alle 20.00 lun-sab, da ottobre ad aprile; tutti i giorni nei restanti mesi

Con 183 posti disponibili, a €1,50 l'ora.

Anche questo parcheggio si trova lungo la via Vecchia di Barbaricina ed esattamente in piazza Andrea del Sarto, che poi continua e arriva a ridosso dei binari della ferrovia (accanto al supermercato Pam).

A few meters from the Tower of Pisa

Access from 08.00 to 20.00 Mon-Sat, from October to April; every day in the remaining months

With 183 parking spaces available, at €1.50 per hour.

This car park is also located along Via Vecchia di Barbaricina and exactly in Piazza Andrea del Sarto, which then continues and arrives close to the railway tracks (next to the Pam supermarket).

Parking Pisa Tower Parking - Via Pisano

A few meters from the Tower of Pisa

This car park is also located on the opposite side of Via Vecchia di Barbaricina, exactly in Via Andrea Pisano 17. It has 100 seats and is just a few meters from Piazza Duomo. It is open from Monday to Saturday from 07.00 to 20.30 and has a cost of €1.50 per hour (€10 for the whole day) and €5 for the night. Sunday is open from 09.00 to 20.30 and costs €2 per hour. Also motorcycles, no campers/coaches.

Parking in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II

In the Central Station area. It is housed in the structure and therefore has a height limit of 2.05. With 380 parking spaces, 5 of which are disabled. It does not allow access to campers, no van, no caravan, no bike.

Open from 06.00 to 22.00 and on Saturdays and holidays from 06.45 to 22.45. Rates from €2.20 per hour to €2.50 hours after the first for a maximum daily of €18.

Parking in Via Piave

Near the stadium.

Open from 06.30 to 23.30 and closed during football matches.

Towards the road that leads to San Giuliano Terme. Open at 08.00 on Wednesday morning, Saturday morning and all day at the markets. At €1 euro per hour.

Parcheggi Aeroporto di Pisa, aperti tutti i giorni e 24h. Sono suddivisi in cinque zone: il P3 soste brevi, Il P2 multipiano, P1 e P4 per soste lunghe. P6 Area Autobus granturismo ad est del piazzale esterno.

Dall'aeroporto non esiste più il servizio Bus per il centro, sostituito dal PisaMover, la navetta che a meno di 40 metri dal Terminal Passeggeri in via automatica collega lo scalo alla Stazione di Pisa Centrale ogni 5/8 minuti (dalle ore 6:00 alle ore 24:00).
