Budapest Zoo

In
front of the spa complex of Széchényi, a secessionist stone portal
decorated with statues of elephants marks the entrance to the Zoo and
Botanical Garden of Budapest (Fővárosi ?llat- és Nővénykert), opened in
1865 with 500 animals, is one of the oldest zoo in Europe. After years of
relative abandonment, it has now been put back on a high gloss. In addition
to the hundreds of plant species, it has buildings of great architectural
interest.

Compared
to other European zoos, it is very expensive and can be a great experience for
young and old alike or for the whole family. The
beautiful metal structure of the Palms House (Pálmaház) was designed
in 1917 by the Eiffel Maison in
Paris, the same as
the
Eiffel Tower. The other old buildings were mainly designed by
Károly Kós (in Art Nouveau style) and Dezs Zrumeczky in
Hungarian style. The zoo was severely bombed during World War II and most of
the animals died, but fortunately it was rebuilt and continued to expand.
As
mentioned, the zoo was in a very precarious state for years, until 2012. But
since then things have improved a lot and for many visitors remains one of the
most fascinating zoos to see (as well as being one of the oldest) the park is
well maintained and maintained. There is so much to walk and see. One of the
most interesting parts is the one dedicated to Arctic animals: seals, polar
bears, penguins, etc. A bit lugubrious (as perhaps it is normal that it is) the
bats pavilion. Among the most visited pavilions are the giant and colourful
butterflies.
The Budapest Zoo is home to about 773 species of animals, ranging from large
cats (tigrims, lions, leopards etc.) to hippos, bears and giraffes, to
animals concentrated in theme areas (e. g., the Zoo of Budapest).
Madagascar, wetlands, Australia night). It is therefore highly recommended,
if you want to visit the zoo with a certain tranquility, to take you an
entire afternoon free to spend here.
